Clarification on Lactic Acid & Soreness
Here is a great recent article found in the New York Times “Lactic Acid Will Be Sorely Missed“about the difference between lactic acid build-up and soreness that the body feels after intense activity. Bottom line–it is not lactic acid that creates soreness–it is that the body is sore alone from doing intense activity. It is suggested to take a 5 minute ice bath followed by and hour of deep tissue massage to help the body recover as quickly as possible.
