Reach Out and Touch Someone

…and that is exactly what we did February 12, 2006!

My, how brave we all were to head out in the 2006 Noreaster…but I think I can say with confidence that the group was happy they did!

My first session in group instruction Massage for Couples was a wonderful experience for me and the “students”. Thank you all and I hope you all wish to work with TaoMassage again.

In closing from the article in Taste For Life Febraury 2006: Sizzling Supplements; Flowers and candy aren’t the only ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day:

That Loving Touch
Finally, reach out and touch the one you love. Touch stimulates the release of oxytocin, both a bonding and pleasure hormore that’s released during hugging, kissing, and massage.

“Modern research has revealed important changes in brain chemistry when animals and children are touched,” says Hyla Cass, MD. “Those deprived of touch develop high levels of cortisol and show corresponding problems with development and learning…of course the vast majority of us know how wonderful it feels to be held in someone’s arms. We don’t need scientific reports to know that touch nurtures our bodies and souls. By raising our endorphin levels, a human touch can lift us into a state of bliss.”

In the process, be creative, warm, loving and spontaneous. And remember, in the words of Ursula K. Le Guin: “Love doesn’t just sit there, like a stone; it has to be made, like bread, remade all the time, made new.”

Now…practice, practice, practice and make some oxytocin!
