This is an overnight retreat that will include activities both for fun and for nurturing body, mind and spirit. The gathering will take place at the Stella Maris Retreat Center, on the ocean in the Elberon section of Long Branch, Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14 .
After Friday night’s opening circle, which will include music, storytelling and dance, the evening will conclude with a time for greeting old friends and meeting new ones. Come Saturday, participants are welcome to join in morning classes in yoga, Qigong or walking meditation.
A panel discussion, led by Dr. Carol Penn and health and wellness practitioners will lead into the midday meal. Panel members will include Rubenfeld Synergist, Joy Principe; Chinese Medicine practitioner and Acupuncturist, Julie Simser; therapist Margaret Moro, Qigong insturctor, Maxine Guenther and Tiffany Gale, integrative nutritionist.The discussion will focus on creating health, wellness, balance and vitality in everyday life. Debra Pascali-Bonaro, Doula, Childbith Educator and producer of the recently completed film, “Orgasmic Birth,” will also be on hand.
After lunch and some free time to take a swim, walk on the beach or just hang out, everyone will be invited to participate in a workshop including music, chanting and healing sounds, offered by composer/pianist Laura DuBois. You can explore the healing sounds of vocal toning with singer and teacher Lisa Baker. Core of Fire, the shore’s own inspirational dance ensemble, will bring movement to the weekend with an afternoon performance. And massage therapist Vivian Taormina gets everyone moving with her workshop, “Shake Your Soul.”
Throughout the weekend, practitioners will be on hand for massage, reflexology, Rubenfeld Synergy, Reiki and other healing modalities. The retreat begins at 3 PM on Friday June 13, with a light meal at 5 PM, followed by the opening celebration at 7 PM. The cost for the entire retreat, ending Saturday at 8 PM, is $295.00, which includes meals and private room. A day stay, for Saturday only (9:00 AM to 8:00 PM) is $195 and includes lunch and dinner. An early bird discount of $240.00 for the overnight and $160.00 for Saturday will be offered for registrations received by May 13, a savings of $55.00 or $35.00, respectively.
